RA in the workplace

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease that can affect you in the workplace and limit how well you are able to do your job. In fact, one study showed that work disabilities related to RA are four to 15 times higher than those in the general population. The same study also revealed that within three years of an RA diagnosis, 42 percent of patients were registered as work disabled. When your performance at work is less than your best, other factors may come into play, such as income loss. Fortunately, there has been a move within the medical community to provide earlier, more aggressive treatment of RA aimed at limiting joint damage, which may improve your ability to continue working.
